Negotiation in the textile industry takes place at the level of the National joint Industrial Negotiating Council (NJINC) at the national level. The NJINC comprises 10 representative of employers and 10 representatives of the union. It is the structure that negotiates the Collective Agreement in the industry. Negotiation also takes place at the plant/branch levels for review of local items involving representatives of the management and the union. Negotiation at the national levels covers items such as Salary Structure (Basic Salary), annual incremental rates, housing allowance, transport allowance, food subsidy, leave/leave allowance etc. Branch items are utility, heat and dust, soap allowance, non-accident bonus, furniture allowance, long service award, weekend incentives etc.
