The Emir said the LP governorship candidate is a man with a versed knowledge and wealth of experience who according to him has been a mover and shaker of this country and beyond.

He said that his leadership quality has given him the ample opportunity and recognition to have been nominated at different times to represent Kwara, Nigeria and even Africa in general at different fora.

The Emir made this known Thursday 6th September while receiving the LP Governorship aspirant who was in the palace to receive royal blessings ahead of his party primaries slated to hold on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

Alhaji Sulu Gambari said Comrade Aremu was one of the leading figures at the former National Confab that was set up by the former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan held in Abuja, of which the Emir was one of the participants.
The Emir who is also the chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, said Comrade Aremu has every right to contest for any political office of his choice in view of his track record of achievements and prayed God to be with him and guide him in the task ahead.

Earlier, comrade Aremu said he was at the palace to solicit for royal blessings and support as one of the sons of the Emirate vying for the office of the Kwara State governor in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

Leading a mammoth crowd drawn from Labour Party and his Alapata/Babako ward in Ilorin to the Emir Palace, he pledged that Kwara will witness tremendous job creation during his tenure, promising that old industries in the state will be revived while the new ones will be created for the benefit of the teeming unemployed youth in the state.

Capacity Building for Traditional Rulers on Security

The front line Gubernatorial aspirant in Kwara State, Comrade Alhaji Issa Aremu promised to draw on the experience of traditional authorities with respect to governance and leadership if elected to office in all the communities that make up Kwara state.

Comrade Aremu said more than other Political Parties the Manifesto of LP recognizes that traditional rulers are the real custodians of the traditional institutions and cultural values of the Nigerian people and that in this capacity they play a very important leadership role at the grassroots level.

The governorship candidate who also congratulated the Emir on the successful colorful well attended Durbar during the last EID Kabir added that Labour Party identifies cultures as reflective of the history, traditions and values of people. “The Labour Party recognises the cultural diversity of Nigeria’s society and the rich cultural heritage of the country’s various nationalities and ethnic groups” he observed.

He also promised that if elected he would ensure regular Excursions by students to traditional rulers and community Leaders in order to make our children show appreciation to our cultural heritage. He also said there should be regular capacity building training for traditional rulers and personnel of Local Government Councils on critical security success factors like Documentation and record keeping, National security outfits, General and prevailing national security challenges; and Intelligence gathering”

Earlier Comrade Aremu had said the first generation state (Kwara) “suffers huge development deficits” adding that “2019 gubernatorial election offers a unique historic opportunity to rebuild Kwara state from what he called “Ghetto” of poverty into land of prosperity and common wealth for all”. He promised to lead the state “through selflessness, statesmanship, entrepreneurship, compassion, managing diversity, equality, inclusiveness, sense of justice and fairness. He said his promised stewardship will be a continuation of his selfless and tested struggle within the national, African and global labour movement spanning four decades”.
