The union in collaboration with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) organized a 1-day Policy Dialogue on “Sustainable Industrialization and Employment in Nigeria”. The policy dialogue which was in commemoration of the 2022 Africa Industrialisation Day (AID) with the theme: “Industrialisation Africa: Renewed Commitment towards Inclusive and Sustainable Industrialisation and Economic Diversification” held on Monday, 21 November, 2022 at Denis Hotel, Wuse 2, Abuja. Consistent with its objectives, the policy dialogue brought together all stakeholders in the manufacturing sector and textile Industries to discuss the challenges and the way forward for sustainable Industrialization and employment in Nigeria. Discussion also centered on revival of textile industry, inclusive growth, full employment and decent work. It was well attended by critical stakeholders in the CTG value chain including the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN). Details are contained in the report of the activity. It was emphasized that smuggling remains a major killer of local industries, textile in particular. The dialogue particularly called on the Federal government to summon the necessary political will and courage to deal with the issue of smugglers and smugglers failing which all the acknowledged efforts to revive the industry would be in vain.
