41244219_2146534388928877_6725413293655064576_nThe President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba, the former Green Eagles Captain and gubernatorial aspirant under the canopy of the Labour Party in Ogun State, Mr Segun Odegbami and the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Comrade Abdulquadri Abdulsalam have thrown their weights behind the success of the LP governorship flagbearer in Kwara State, Comrade Issa Aremu mni.
Other dignatories who were in Ilorin today to witness the LP primaries and registered their solidarity to the party governorship aspirant also included the LP National Vice Chairman, North Central, Comrade Adi Shirsha Adi; Party National Organizing Secretary Comrade Clement Gbazuoaagu; representative of the Emir of Ilorin, the Sheriki Fawa of Ilorin, Alhaji Baba Eleran, state LP executives and it’s members; delegates from all the 16 local government areas of the state among other teeming members and supporters of the party in the state and beyond
Speaking during the event, National Chairman of NLC, Comrade Wabba described the emergence of comrade Issa Aremu as the LP governorship flagbearer in Kwara state as a step in a right direction Wabba who spoke through the National President of NUTGTWIN, Comrade John Adaji said NLC is fully ready to deploy all resources within its reach into this project to ensure that the right candidate who knows where shoes pinches his people emerges as the Governor of Kwara State come 2019 general elections.
He explained that there is no other person that is capable of turning around the lives of kwarans than Comrade Aremu who is highly reputed to be a fit and capable hand for Kwara state at this critical period of the state.
Wabba disclosed further that Kwara will, during the next year elections, witness a repeat of what happened in Edo state about a decade ago when the current Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole took over the leadership of Edo state via Labour Party.
He pledged that all the 42 industrial units of the Unions in Nigeria will storm Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, to attend the flag-off ceremony of the LP campaign in Ilorin and give the LP flag bearer all the necessary supports.
The National Chairman of the LP, Comrade Abdulqaudri Abdulsalam who presented the flag of the party to the flag bearer after the primary, described Comrade Aremu as a great achiever whose achievements in labour struggle are very enormous and worthwhile.
Abdulsalam called on the people of the state to cast their votes for the right and credible candidates like Aremu, assuring them that he would surely justify their confidence on him when given the mandate to rule the state.
The Organising Secretary of the party, Comrade Clement Gbazuoagu who said he left Kwara 33years ago, affirmed that the only thing that is also constant, after death and change, is Kwara state, saying that he was sad that he met Ilorin the same way he left it three decades ago , pointing out that nobody gave him direction before he could locate his former residence.
Gbazuoagu described Comrade Aremu as the only man who can bring real change to the state, a positive change that will be noted with tremendous development and accelerated growth.
Olusegun Odegbami during his message described his counterpart from Kwara as a man of integrity who can be entrusted with affairs of the state because of his unblemished records within the country and beyond.
Speaking on behalf of women wing, Hajia Asmau Apalando appealed to the workers and the entire people of the state to vote for party that has passion for the well-being of masses, and described Comrade Issa Aremu as a good driver through whom the party will drive the state to a promised land.
Giving his acceptance speech amidst cheers and jubilation by party members and supporters, the LP governorship flag bearer, Comrade Issa Aremu appreciated the party stalwarts and supporters for believing in him as the right man for the job, promising that the support will further spur him to use his wealth of experience and international connection to liberate Kwara from shackles of poverty and joblessness if elected as the Kwara state governor come 2019 elections.
He said he would work in line with the modest ideals of LP which centered on the principles of equality, justice, sincerity, and uprightness.
“The principles of our Party shall be humanistic, patriotic, pan-African and democratic socialist, because it is established to promote and defend the rights and welfare of the masses and indeed the entire humanity”.
“I will uplift the conditions of life of all Kwarans, the prosperity and stability of the state and guarantee the reign of equity and justice he added.
He said LP would promote and defend Social Democratic principles and ideals for the purpose of achieving Social Justice, Progress and People’s Democracy and Unity in the country.
“Let’s replace “Ghetto” of poverty in Kwara with vast land of prosperity, common wealth and security for all” he said
Comrade Issa Aremu was unanimously appointed as the part flagbearer through affirmation once he is contesting on platform of LP unopposed. The motion for the affirmation was moved by the Kwara Central Deputy Chairmanship of the Party, Comrade Adedayo Salahu and seconded by the North Central Deputy Chairman of the party, Comrade Abdulrahaman Ibrahim.
